Some of our Favorite Self-Care Things!
It is so important to talk about self-care and really consider how that plays such a crucial role in the work you are doing towards food and body freedom. We are the first to say this work is so hard and we MUST take care of ourselves throughout the process.
From our last blog (if you haven’t read that, hop over there now and then come back. We will wait ☺️) we considered what self-care means.
To be honest though, it can be difficult to come up with tangible ideas of what self-care is. We have decided to put together a list of some of our favorites that we are excited to share with you. As always, take what is helpful and leave what is not.
Self-Care Items
A creative outlet can be so valuable when we need a distraction or something to keep ourselves busy. Distractions help us focus on something that has absolutely nothing to do with the stressor.
What about sensory self-care items? Sensory overload results in the brain firing on all cylinders that feels impossible to stop. Sensory items help the mind and body reconnect by using the senses (e.g. sight, sound, touch, smell, taste) to ground us in the present.
Let’s be real here…we all need accountability to help with doing what we need to do; especially when stress is high around the holidays. Sometimes we all need some certainty and safety. Here are some of our favorite items to help us in the moment.
Self-Care Subscriptions
Let’s be real here. We all love when things can be easy and accessible. We live in a world where executive functioning is a necessity, and yet it can be completely exhausting. Sometimes investing in a subscription that shows up at your door without taking any more of our metaphorical spoons can be THE definition of self-care.
Flower subscriptions (Urban Stems, Bouq’s Co., Bloomsybox)
Meal subscriptions (Hello Fresh, Home Chef, Chef’s Plate, EveryPlate, etc)
Vitamin Subscription - 25% off your first subscription MEREDITHW-25
Self-care does not have to look a specific way. Self-care is all about intentionally creating safety and calmness in your world. These are some of our favorite ways to do that. We hope you find something you may want to try. Want a link to all of these items in one place? Check out the Renshaw Nutrition amazon list!
